When is Your Divorce Final?

But do you really understand when your divorce from your worthless spouse, "Sluggo," is actually final?

The simple answer to this question is that your Georgia divorce is generally not final until after the judge has actually signed a final divorce decree. In other words, having your divorce attorney to file for a divorce is NOT the same as getting a final divorce decree, (which generally comes at the end of the divorce case).

Of course, if Sluggo proves to be difficult, or spiteful, and if he refuses to fully cooperate and sign all the documents, then the divorce becomes contested, which means that the price will likely run into several thousand dollars, at a minimum.

DIY Kits and Uncontested Divorces in Georgia

I just "googled" the terms "simple, uncontested divorces in Georgia."  Immediately, I was faced with a list of possible websites which included a number of "do-it-yourself" divorce kits.  Of course, since I am an Augusta, Georgia divorce lawyer, I do not recommend that anyone should try to "do-it-yourself," particularly if there are children of the marriage.  The issues, even in an uncontested divorce, are often too complicated.
